Gong Hyo Jin and So Ji Sub begin stepping into their roles for “Master’s Sun,” the new drama from the Hong Sisters, the acclaimed writing team behind such hits as “You’re Beautiful,” “My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho” and “Greatest Love.”
Stills are recently released and reported in local news agencies featuring the two actors when their characters first meet. In the photo, Go Hyo Jin’s character Gong Shil barges in on Joong Won (So Ji Sub) who stopped driving when he encountered a mysterious light. Gong Shil acts inappropriately towards Joong Won even on the first meeting and thus they begin fighting.
Gong Hyo Jin portrayed someone who was in a haze while So Ji Sub was able to express the coldness and surprise he felt at the encounter.
The shoot took place at a rest stop in Paju on June 19. It was reported that though the shoot was late in the night, the two leads were energetic and kept their spirits up. They are also said to enjoy a good camaraderie and teamwork off camera, discussing their scripts, contrary to their bickering characters.
“Master’s Sun” marks the first time the two A-list stars pair up for a project. A representative from the drama’s production company Born Factory said, “There is a lot of attention at the fresh pairing of Gong Hyo Jin and So Ji Sub, their first time to be coupled up since their debuts. On set, they have also exceeding expectations with their teamwork.
In “Master’s Sun,” a woman who can see ghosts meets a cold CEO. “Answer Me, 1997″ break-out star Seo In Guk is also in the cast. Director Jin Hyuk of “Brilliant Legacy,” “Prosecutor Princess” and “City Hunter” takes the helm.
“Master’s Sun” premieres on July 31, as SBS’ follow-up to “I Can Hear Your Voice.”
